Music Students

Our special courses of German as a foreign language are designed for music students at a German conservatory (e.g. Hochschule für Musik Köln) who are required to achieve a certain demand of German in order to begin or continue with their specialized studies.

Benefit from our over 10 years-experience in the domain of German for foreign music students. Your fellow students will confirm that learning languages can be fun, too.

The intensive courses range over one or two semesters (depending on the individual entrance level) with four lessons per day (Mo-Fr; 8.30-11.45 or 12.15-15.30).

In our institute (only 3 minutes walk from the Hochschule für Musik Köln) we prepare you intensively for the required levels,

As only music students are participants in these courses, teaching from the beginning is geared to the specific interests of musicians – even in absolute beginner groups

As we soon appear again as a co-operation partner of the HfMT, applicants for the academic year 2010/11 will be given the opportunity to use the practise rooms of the Hochschule für Musik provided they take already part in our German language courses.

Our courses of German as a foreign language contain not only participation in the language courses with a total of approx. 760 - 910 lessons. Also included in the tuition fee are all teaching materials, excursions and visits to concerts.

Among the teaching materials are texts with topics primarily dealing with music and a special German workbook for music students. (contents and sample chapter)

Further material – such as CDs and DVDs on the topic music (composers, history of music, basic vocabulary of theory of music) – is also incorporated in the lessons.

If there are any questions about the vocabulary used in your lectures and auditions, you can always ask us.

The classes have a maximum number of 15 participants each, to ensure effective teaching and learning. At most 4 groups will be established. We will assign you to the appropriate group according to your level.
